Social services have been incorporating trauma-informed policies and practices into service delivery over the past number of years. Recently, we have seen how these principles extend into the animal welfare space and may have important implications for the work we do and the clients we serve. Our Urgent Care program has provided a launching point for our organization’s journey towards becoming a leader in Trauma-Informed Care (TIC). TIC is a universal approach that will allow us to acknowledge the challenges we all face, and prioritize safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment in the work that we do.

Join us in this roundtable where we will discuss how embracing TIC as a universal precautionary approach serves to benefit everyone.

We will dive into the topic of TIC in the animal-welfare sector, and at THS. We will review Vancouver Humane Society’s resources to support this exploration.
